Amazon begins a new chapter with opening of first physical bookstore<\/strong>: Graham Ruddick<\/a> at The Guardian<\/a> reports that Amazon is opening its first physical bookstore, 20 years after it started selling books on the internet. The shop will be called Amazon Books and will stock about 6,000 titles based on reviews and sales data from Amazon.com. Books will be priced the same as on Amazon.com. Facebook tests \u201clocal market,\u201d a dedicated buying and selling community powered by Facebook groups<\/strong>: Sarah Perez<\/a> at TechCrunch<\/a> reports that a number of Facebook users recently reported seeing a new feature called \u201cLocal Market\u201d appearing briefly in their Facebook iPhone app.\u00a0 The feature, which is only in testing but not broadly distributed, is a more structured marketplace aimed at buyers and sellers, allowing Facebook users to browse through or post items to sell across a variety of product categories. Amazon and eBay ‘liable’ if they ignore VAT fraud:<\/strong> Simon Tulett at BBC News<\/a> reports that Amazon and eBay could be liable for billions of pounds in unpaid VAT if they fail to properly investigate traders using their sites to escape sales tax. The online marketplaces could be legally required to spot the tax evasion committed by many of their overseas sellers. UK firms say they are being put out of business by the unfair competition. Amazon launches Black Friday deals this week<\/strong>: Ina Steiner at eCommerceBytes<\/a> reports that Amazon has launched a Black Friday Deals store that offers deals from now through to 22 December. The initiative dubbed, “countdown to Black Friday”, offers Prime members early access to over 30,000 Lightning Deals whilst-all customers will find tens of thousands of deals. Amazon has also launched a curated Electronics Holiday Gift Guide and Gift Finder tool to take the guesswork out of shopping and make it easy to discover all of the right gifts.<\/p>\n
