What we wear and how much of that we purchase online is firmly within Amazon’s sights as it moves its online Javari brand into the Amazon Fashion fold in June of this year.\u00a0Javari, Amazon UK’s website for shoes and handbags is destined to become part of Amazon Fashion<\/a> on 25th June and in an email to its current customers, Javari explains the move….<\/h3>\n

The Amazon Fashion<\/strong> site features the latest shoes and handbags from an expanded selection of brands \u2013 including many of your favourites found on Javari \u2013 along with the season\u2019s key trends and edits.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll enjoy all the benefits of shopping at Amazon.co.uk<\/strong>, including fast delivery and free returns on eligible items, by logging in to Amazon.co.uk with your Javari account details. You\u2019ll be able to get unlimited one-day delivery on millions of eligible items with a Prime membership. Sign up now for a free month trial if you haven\u2019t tried Amazon Prime<\/strong> yet.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Javari’s offer of free shipping and returns on all orders will be affected as Amazon’s own free shipping is limited to orders over \u00a310 (which would cover most shoes and bags anyway), however, the move on the whole is likely good for its customers who can benefit from a large range of stock that includes clothing, jewellery and watches also, as well as familiar searching, browsing and buying from Amazon’s site.<\/p>\n

The move highlights Amazon’s intentions in fashion in general and is something we believe third party sellers\/FBA sellers should be interested in. To date, eBay has pipped Amazon as a viable marketplace for merchants to sell online clothing stock as users can list whatever products they want and multi-variations is a little more mature, however, with the introduction of Amazon Brand Registry<\/a>, it’s conceivable that many aspiring designers with their own clothing ranges could be enabled to sell their wares within a very large marketplace and avail of the fulfilment infrastructure that’s arguably unmatched today.<\/p>\n

As we have often argued, choosing Amazon as your first or main sales channel to get into ecommerce offers many positives<\/a>, including the low cost and subsequent risk of entry. And if Amazon is developing its fashion offering, the technology that drives its platform is going to become evermore efficient at helping users find, view and shop for clothing and clothing accessories\u2014that technology will be hard to replicate or match for small sellers which is why we see the number of third party sellers using Amazon as their main marketplace and availing of FBA continuing to rise.<\/p>\n
